Maha Shivatri Special Recipe - Farali Frankie

As we all know Maha Shivratri is the night of worship to Lord Shiva. It occurs on the 14th night of the new moon during the dark half of phalgun month. We hindus offers special prayer to the lord of destruction. It is said that lord shiv performed Tandava nritya on that day. It is a festival of one day and one night only.
On this day we only have farali recipes. In earlier recipes we learnt to make so many farali recipes. But now it's time for a delicious and non fried home made recipe - Farali Frankie. It is made from pure farali grocery and spices. And can be served as single meal dinner or as snacks also. So enjoy the recipe for farali frankie.

Preparation time - 15 to 20 minutes
Cooking time - 15 to 20 minutes
Serves - 4 person

Ingredients to make Farali Frankie:

For rotis: 

1 cup water chestnut flour - shinghada flour
1 cup rajigra flour 
Salt to taste - sindhav (fasting salt)
1 tea spoon oil

For petty:

3 boiled potatoes
1/2 cup fresh crumbled paneer
1 table spoon finely chopped green chillies
1/4 tea spoon crushed ginger
Salt to taste (fasting salt)
1 table spoon coriander leaves
1 tea spoon red chilli powder
Juice of 1 lemon 
1 table spoon sugar
1 table spoon roasted sesame seeds
Aara lot (paniphal) flour as needed
1 table spoon chaat masalo
Butter as needed
Oil for frying

To spread:

Grated cheese
Grated paneer

To serve with:

Tomato ketch up

Method to make Farali Frankie:

For roti:

  • Mix all ingredients of roti and knead soft dough with the help of water. Rest for 10 minutes covered.
  • Make equal size balls from dough and make semi cooked roties from it. Make sure that roties are not crisp.

For petty:

  • Mix all ingredients of petty and make equal size petty from it. Shallow fry or deep fry them as per your choice. 

How to assemble:

  • Lightly heat roties on tavi - griddle and spread some sweet and green chutney over it. Place a petty over it and at last spread some grated cheese and paneer over it. Sprinkle some chaat masalo over it.
  • Fold roti from bottom and then roll from both sides. Apply some butter over it and grill or shallow fry for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Repeat the same for remaining.
  • Serve hot Farali Frankie with tomato ketch up and french fries. 

Tips:

  • Instead of sweet and green chutneys you can use the rich and creamy mixture of cheese spread, tomato ketch up.
