How to make Gujarati Papad Poha

Recipe by Naiya Sheth: Basically this is a very well known Gujarati dry snack. In which we mix poha-Flacked rice and papad with some spices. In this recipe, I used thin poha which is called "nylon poha". As this is a dry snack it can be stored in airtight container for minimum 15 days. So let's make this famous and delicious Gujarati Papad Poha today. It's good for kids lunch box sometimes. In my home, we use this recipe as breakfast for the whole year.




Preparation time -  5 minutes
Roasting time - 1 hour in O T G and 4 to 5 minutes in microwave
Cooking time - 5 minutes
Makes 250 grammes

Ingredients to make Gujarati Papad Poha:

  • 250 nylon poha
  • 2 to 3 papad roasted or fried
  • 3 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/4 cup peanuts or daliya dal
  • 8 to 10 curry leaves
  • 4 to 5 green chillies (slit lengthwise)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon powder sugar

Method to make Gujarati Papad Poha:

  • Dry roast poha in microwave or O T G.
  • Heat oil in pan and add mustard seeds to it. 
  • When they crackles add green chillies, curry leaves and peanuts or daliya dal.
  • Roast for 2 minutes and then add turmeric powder. Mix well.
  • Now time to add roasted poha, salt and powder sugar. Again mix well and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add crushed papad and let it cool at room temperature.


Super delicious Gujarati Papad Poha is ready to store.
